An Apology Letter

Dear Blogspot,
I know that we have been going through some tough times lately. Our relationship had just begun and things seemed to be going well during our two date (posts, technically) partnership but lately I have distanced myself from you.
I guess it's time for me to be totally honest and tell you that I am still in the midst of breaking up with a lingering relationship I have... with college. Maybe I should have waited until things were completely over with school before we started to date but I swear I don't have any more feelings for college and we'll be over as of May 1st.
So please hang tight, because I like the way things were going with us and I think we could have a great relationship. I feel like I could really open up to you and share my honest opinions and feelings... and practice my journalistic writing skills without your judgment.
So remember, it's not you, it's me; but I promise I will be back soon.
Love Val

A Little of This, A Lot of Betsey Johnson

LG Fashion Week 2009 kicked off on Monday, featuring well known designers such as Lundström, Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh Style.
On Tuesday, Brant House opened it's doors and welcomed admirers to celebrate Betsey Johnson's Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. Johnson wasn't there to accept the applauded praise and enthusiastic cheers for her new line up, unfortunately, but that didn't stop anyone from loving her new collection just the same.

Siamese2Hearts
started the night off right in the DJ booth while fashion lovers crowded around the runway, dancing to the beats and chatting excitedly while waiting for the show to begin. After an hour's wait from the stated start time, the show finally got underway.
The line up b
egan with DJ Princess Superstar on the runway, sporting a gorgeous sparkly, pink tulle strapless dress with a silk sash under the bust that wrapped into a funky bow at the back. It was the epitome of the spring/summer collection - Johnson's pieces were a little bit girlie, a little bit punk, a little bit poufy, and a lot original. That's Betsey Johnson for you.
Forget the cliché sullen model pose at the end of the catwalk. Johnson's models were smiling and having fun showcasing her dresses on the runway with umbrellas, balloons, and large lollipops that added a touch of originality to the show.
Some of my favourite looks from the night included: the black 'Evening Sugar and Spice' strapless sequin dress
paired with a knit cardigan with a gun on the back (an original combination that I adore Johnson for); the pink 'Evening Moon Dreams' strapless dress with a sheer cardigan (perfect for a night out with the girls); and the white 'String Crochet' bell sleeve tunic (casual and chic - just right for strolling downtown on a warm spring day.)
The piece I fell head over heels for (almost literally- I'm a klutz in heels - props to the models who strutted their stuff in three inches on a slippery runway) was Johnson's bisque hued 'Evening Heartbreaker' strapless dress. I literally gasped when I saw it and frantically grabbed around for my friend's arm, afraid to look away from the model wearing my future dress.
Here are some photos from the evening - enjoy!

Sequins and Sex Dreams

I wonder if this is a dream
Black panties and a lace bra
Set beneath a sequined dress
Vulnerable flesh waiting to be discovered
And grazed with the gentleness of your touch.

Tattooed chest pieces
Of swallows and roses
Hiding underneath your best shirt and tie
Opuses to be admired
With the stroke of my fingertips...
